Wendy's Auto Wrecking Blog

Hello! Welcome to my new blog. My name is Wendy and the thing I find most exciting in life is auto wrecking. It might sound strange but I have always loved taking things apart. When I was a kid we had to watch an educational film at school about the auto business. It was pretty dull until they got to the part in which the workers took the cars apart, stripped them of all the useful bits and then squashed them into tiny little blocks. I'm not a professional, but I have learnt all you can about auto wrecking, so I decided to start this blog. Enjoy!

How to Get Money from Your Junk Car

Many people let their junk cars sit in their yards indefinitely because they think that they cannot get any monetary benefits from that car. This article discusses some of the ways through which you may receive cash from the junk car that is parked on your property.

Donate the Car

How can donating the car put any money in your pocket? Some jurisdictions offer tax deductions to those who donate their cars to a charity. However, you should make sure that the charity organization that you choose is listed among the organizations whose donors qualify for tax deductions. You should also provide accurate information, such as the value of the junk car, so that you are not held liable in case irregularities are unearthed in the tax information you presented to the authorities.

Sell Reusable Parts

The fact that an old car cannot be driven does not mean that all its parts are useless. Many parts of such a car are still in a usable condition. Such parts can be removed and sold on the aftermarket auto parts market. Owners of a similar make and model of car will be willing to use those parts because they may be more affordable than new parts. You may be unable to sell all the usable parts of your junk car by yourself due to your limited access to the people who may need those parts. You may also be unable to identify which parts can be reused. In such a situation, you could sell the car to auto wreckers for a flat fee. Those wreckers will then be able to remove and sell the reusable parts.

Recycle Its Materials

Another way to get some money from your junk car is to sell its parts to a recycling center. For instance, you may be able to earn some money once you deliver the metal frame to a metal recycler. That recycler will pay you based on the weight of the material that you deliver. This option may make sense if you can deliver that junk car without incurring a high cost to transfer it to the recycling center, such as when the car can still be driven. Otherwise, it may be wiser to sell it to auto wreckers who may not charge you for having the car removed from your property.

As you can see, the junk car that is an eyesore on your property may be worth more than you think. Compare the options above and select the one that will give you the greatest monetary benefit.
